Setting up Typekit

Having beautiful typography on your website can be done in many ways, one of them is by using the popular and free Google fonts. Besides Google fonts, there are many third party websites providing paid subscriptions so you can use premium fonts on your website. One of them is Typekit.

All of our WordPress themes support displaying Typekit fonts, directly customizable in the WordPress customizer without the need to write a single line of code. All you need to do is provide your Typekit kit ID to your WordPress site via the Typekit configuration page.

Here’s an image showing the Typekit fonts in the customizer in our Helium WordPress theme.

Before we begin we need your Typekit kit ID. If you’re a Typekit user, then we assume that you already know what a Typekit kit is but in case you do not know or want to learn more about it, here’s a reference documentation from Adobe’s website:

After having your Typekit kit ID, let’s submit this into your WordPress site. Go to Settings > External API > Typekit and put your Typekit kit ID inside the form field. If the kit is found to be valid, a table displaying all the fonts in your kit will be displayed. Now you’re ready to use your Typekit fonts in the WordPress customizer.
